What does mold smell like?

What does mold smell like? When I ask those who conduct mold inspection what mold smells like, some of them compare it to rotting wood or paper. Others say it smells like cedar or dirty wet socks. Generally we can say mold has a musty or earthy smell. If you have this kind of smell in your house, most likely there is mold growth whether you see it or not.
