Some molds grow faster than others. For example, under laboratory conditions, a mold called Chrysonilia is capable of filling up completely a 100 mm (diameter) petridish and produce spores within 2 days. Most molds will produce spores on laboratory media within 7 days.
Under natural conditions, mold growth may take slightly longer to establish but ones established the growth rate could be similar to that observed under laboratory conditions.
